We are looking for a young person aged 18-26 years to join two young men in "Discipleship House", an initiative of Saint Aidan's Anglican Church, Miramar Wellington. This is a mission-focused house with prayer and flat-night rhythms and expectations that house members will be mentored, attend Saint Aidan's Church regularly (e.g. minimum of 2 Sundays per month) and be actively involved in the local youth, intermediate and/or Sunday School ministries and monthly family social nights. You will be a committed Christian who cares about youth and discipleship and willing to bring your skills to build God's kingdom on the Miramar Peninsula. As a member of the house, you will be supported to:
Grow in your identity as a child of God
Gain a deeper understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith
Cultivate relationships with those in the generation younger than you to intentionally pass on (echo down) the faith
Identify and minister using your gifts in the local church, knowing you are a vital part of the body.
You will experience support from our local church community and will find a sense of purpose, belonging and outreach in the ministry and kaupapa of the house.
The house is a new build, is warm and dry and located next to the church and Vicarage - (the Vicar's residence). Communal furniture, white ware etc is provided, but the room itself is unfurnished (a heater is provided). It is a flat easy-access section, adjacent to a large sports field and close to local shops which include gyms, a movie theatre, library, supermarket, chemists, physio, dentist, doctors, cafes and restaurants. A vacancy has opened up as one of our founding members has left to get married. Room is available now. Miramar has direct bus routes to Victoria and Massey Universities (Number 18) and town/Karori (2, 30, 31, 4). A bond of $880 will be required. Interested people will be interviewed/screened by church representatives and will be required to undergo a police background check.
