We would like to offer our home to a suitable family. Full or near full term rentals are preferred.

We own a medium sized (165sqm/1775sqf), single level, 4 bedroom family house on Auckland's North Shore on large land situated on the edge of an extinct volcano in a nice neighbourhood. The property is quite large, and even though we are suburban, we have some lovely bush, which is a habitat for native birds. Our section is away from the road, the backyard is fenced off and there's plenty of space for the kids to run around and for you to relax. Our neighbours are friendly.

We are very close to the Harbour Bridge, great swimming beaches, sports, fishing, sailing, walking, hiking, cycling tracks, theatres, movies and restaurants. Two large recreational parks are less than five minutes' walk (Onepoto Domain & Tuff Crater). Perfect accommodation for AUT, University of Auckland, ACG, Taylors College, NZIE and more, or those working in Auckland or North Shore. Northcote Shops are 10 minutes’ walk with two supermarkets, pharmacies, doctors, post office, bank machine, fast food and a great array of restaurants with tasty kiwi and ethnic foods.

We have two young kids - three and six, so our house is suitable for families and also couples - the backyard is fenced off, with plenty of room for the kids to run around, jump on the trampoline and play in the sandpit.

While the house was originally built in 1967 - it's being modernised in stages. It's warm with plenty of insulation, double glazed windows in bedrooms, central heating, ventilation, central vacuum, new bathrooms and while the kitchen is still from the 1980's, it is still very functional and comes with an induction hob. There is also a study/office space and a conservatory.

Our property is 100% smoke and drug free. There is absolutely no smoking or vaping of anything, these rules are non-negotiable.

The guest bedroom (see pictures) is quite large and very private - it includes an ensuite, kitchenette and separate entrance, but there's a door to the house too (dining room). It is ideal for your guests or family.

Bed arrangements: room 1: queen, room 2: queen, room 3: 2x singles, room 4: 1x single; The beds can be moved, or put in storage as you wish. We also have some floor mattresses for short term stays. All linen and towels is provided.

You can expect the house to be warm with lots of sun. Enjoy views of an extinct volcanic crater and native bush, entertainment provided - just open the windows to listen to NZ birds, cicadas and crickets. Internet here is fast and not limited. 

--- GETTING AROUND ---

PUBLIC TRANSIT: our location is only 15 minutes by bus from Auckland City. The bus stop is literally just outside - routes take you directly in and out of the City. During the morning peak commute (until 9am) the journey takes a bit longer. Fare is $3.45 per ride with "AT Hop Card" and free for kids under 5 years old. You can use google maps to plan your transit in Auckland. If you want - email your plans and we can give you an idea of what your commute would look like.

BIKE: 25 minutes ride to Birkenhead Point Ferry terminal. The ferry will take you and your bike into the heart of the city, and you can connect to a network of cycle trails from there, or you can take your bike on the train from there too.

WALKING: there are many points of interest within walking distance. 5 minutes’ walk: you're in one of three parks with great walking tracks, kids playgrounds with a flying fox, kids bike training course. 10 minutes walk minutes’ walk: local shops, restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets, doctors & library. 20 minutes’ walk: AUT University North Shore campus.

CAR: it's less than 15 minutes to/from the city off-peak. Peak hours are usually 6.30am-9am and 4-6.30pm) and it will take longer to get to your destination depending on the number of people in the car (we have some great transit lanes). There are multiple parking spaces for your car in our driveway. Garage is be used for our storage.

UTILITIES: around $100 per week - depending on number of people staying.

The rent for this property is kept low in return for you looking after it like your own home while we're away. The property is pretty low maintenance - other than lawns (which can be done by a contractor), the gardens might need an occasional sprinkle with water if it's super dry - but otherwise you will have plenty of time to explore!
