As kaitiaki YOU LIVE IN THE FLAT as a supportive flatmate of our rangatahi, not as a caregiver.
At Te Kāpehu Whetū we offer supported flatting accommodation for rangatahi (target ages of 18-21years) transitioning from care to independent living.
As kaitiaki we need you to: -make the flat ‘home’ and care about its culture and your flatties. -support a clean, respectful space with some routines for basics such as dinner prep, food shopping and cleaning - role model positive life-skills so that rangatahi can learn alongside you and uphold the kaupapa of our programme. -have your own positive lifestyle such as work, volunteering or study
ESSENTIAL: Willing and have time to “care-about” and be present with rangatahi and support the running of the flat. HIGHLY VALUED: Knowledge and connection to te ao Māori and/or Pasifika cultures PREFERRED: Previous flatting or independent living experience (so you have the basics before you move-in)
We provide: a partially furnished private room, shared bathroom, furnished flat,ly food budget, internet, Netflix, power, water, professional development and social opportunities.
